Complections helps recreate injuries for education

Complections International Academy of Make-up Artistry worked with Ornge, to help recreate injuries in an effort to better prepare first responders. Ornge, an Ontario company that provides medical transport for very ill and critically injured patients, was looking for a way to better prepare their staff for real world situations in the field.
Ornge educators worked with Complections to develop simulated wounds to attach to the training simulator mannequins. The computerized human patient simulators are equipped to simulate heart rates and other conditions but not lacerations, wounds or burns.
The educators worked with Complections to design, mould, paint and prepare the appliances for use in training; the process allows them to recreate almost any scenario. Ornge also needed the appliances to be applied, removed and changed as required to train over 200 paramedics per year.
"I'm so thankful that there are people willing to do this work. This feels very good to be helping real people train paramedics to go help others," Complections President Pamela Earle said. "I think we've all had a real sense of community in being able to do this."
